Terms of Service

Hintmo privately confirms when two people independently add each other's Instagram usernames inside Hintmo. No profiles, no bios, no photos, no messages. Your Hintmo spots stay private. If someone adds you back, both of you find out. If not, nobody does.

Who operates Hintmo

Hintmo is operated by Odyset AB, org. nr 559597-0434, with its registered address at Svärdvägen 21, 182 33 Danderyd, Sweden. For legal or other enquiries, contact us at hello@odyset.com. Odyset AB is also the data controller for personal data — see the Privacy Policy below.

Who can use Hintmo

You must be at least 18 years old. By signing in you confirm your age and that you accept these terms and our Privacy Policy.

Misrepresenting your age is a serious violation of these terms. Accounts found to belong to anyone under 18 are removed, and the same email address or Apple/Google sign-in identity cannot be used to create a new Hintmo account for 100 days. If you believe an account on Hintmo belongs to a minor, report it from inside the app or email support@hintmo.com. We prioritise reports involving minors and aim to review them promptly.

One account per username

Use Hintmo only for yourself. Only connect an Instagram username you control, and only add real people you genuinely want to connect with. Each Instagram username can only be connected to one Hintmo account. Do not impersonate others, harass people or misuse the service.

Your own connected username cannot be edited or swapped while your account exists. If you delete your account, that username remains reserved for 100 days before it can be used again.

Acceptable use

You may not use Hintmo for unlawful activity, harassment, threats, abuse or stalking. You may not automate access to Hintmo, scrape or reverse engineer the service, or probe, enumerate or infer other users’ private activity. This includes attempting to discover whether a specific Instagram username uses Hintmo, which usernames another person has added to their Hintmo spots, or any match status you have not independently earned.

How matches work

You use Hintmo by adding Instagram usernames to your private Hintmo spots. Only you can see the usernames you add.

If another person independently adds your Instagram username to one of their Hintmo spots, a match is created. A match simply means that both of you added each other’s Instagram usernames inside Hintmo.

If a match is created, it becomes visible to both of you after 24 hours. If the other person never adds you, they are never told that you added them.

Hintmo spots, cooldown and Hintmo Plus

Every account includes 3 free Hintmo spots. Hintmo Plus is an optional subscription that unlocks 7 additional Hintmo spots, giving you 10 Hintmo spots in total while your subscription is active. Plus is billed weekly, monthly or yearly through the App Store or Google Play. You can cancel at any time through your store subscription settings, and refunds are handled by Apple or Google under their own policies.

Once an Instagram username is added to a Hintmo spot, it cannot be edited or replaced. You can delete it, but after deletion that spot stays locked for 100 days before a new Instagram username can be added. This rule applies to all Hintmo spots.

If Hintmo Plus ends, the Instagram usernames in spots 4–10 stay saved, but those spots become inactive. While inactive, they cannot create a new match. If Plus becomes active again, those spots become active again. If both people have active qualifying spots at that time, a match can then be created from that moment. Your 3 free Hintmo spots remain active regardless of Plus.

When you delete your account

You can delete your account, your connected Instagram username and all of your Hintmo spots at any time from Settings. Deletion removes your data from the live app when the deletion is processed. To prevent account deletion from being used to claim someone else’s Instagram username:

  • Your own connected Instagram username remains reserved on Hintmo for 100 days. During that time, nobody else can connect it to a Hintmo account. After 100 days, it becomes available again. Instagram usernames you had added to your Hintmo spots are released immediately and are not reserved.
  • You cannot create a new Hintmo account using the same email address or Apple/Google sign-in identity for 100 days. After 100 days, you can register again normally.

We keep only the minimum information needed to enforce these rules. See the Privacy Policy section on retention and anti-abuse data for exactly what is kept and for how long.

Verification & identity

Hintmo does not automatically verify that the person behind a Hintmo account controls the Instagram username they connect. A match only means that two Hintmo accounts independently added each other’s Instagram usernames inside Hintmo. It does not mean that Hintmo has verified who controls either Instagram account. If you choose to act on a match, verify the person on Instagram first.

If you believe someone is impersonating you on Hintmo or has connected your Instagram username without permission, report it from inside the app or email support@hintmo.com. We review reports manually and may ask you to prove that you control the Instagram username, for example by placing a short verification code in your Instagram bio temporarily. If a report is valid, we may suspend or remove the impersonating account and transfer the username to the rightful owner.

Removing someone

Hintmo has no chat, profiles, following or any other direct interaction between people. If you no longer want someone in one of your Hintmo spots, delete their Instagram username from that spot. If a match has already been created, it is removed for both of you. If no match exists, nothing is shown to the other person. The spot then stays locked for 100 days before a new Instagram username can be added.

We may suspend or remove accounts that break these terms. This includes adding usernames that do not belong to real people, mass-adding usernames to probe private activity, impersonating someone, or trying to bypass age or payment rules.

Reporting and moderation

If an Instagram username is being misused on Hintmo — for example through impersonation, harassment or illegal activity — you can report it from inside the app or by emailing support@hintmo.com.

We review reports and may remove usernames, matches or accounts that break these terms. We also respond to valid removal requests from courts and authorities in the jurisdictions where Hintmo operates.

If we restrict or remove your account, you can appeal the decision by emailing support@hintmo.com.

Not affiliated with Instagram

Hintmo is not affiliated with, endorsed by or operated by Instagram or Meta Platforms, Inc. We use Instagram usernames only as public identifiers that users choose to add to their private Hintmo spots. All Instagram and Meta trademarks belong to their respective owners.

What happens outside Hintmo

Hintmo only reveals matches inside Hintmo. What people choose to do after a match — for example messaging, meeting or contacting each other elsewhere — is entirely between them.

Hintmo does not verify a person’s identity, intentions or safety, and we are not responsible for interactions or outcomes that happen outside Hintmo.

Changes

We may update these terms as Hintmo evolves. If we make material changes, we will notify you inside Hintmo before the updated terms take effect.

Privacy Policy

Hintmo is designed to use as little of your data as possible. We do not sell your data, run ads inside Hintmo, or track you across the internet.

This Privacy Policy explains what personal data we process, why we process it, who helps us operate Hintmo, how long data is kept, and what rights you have.

The rules for using Hintmo are set out in the Terms of Service above.

Data controller

Odyset AB, org. nr 559597-0434, with its registered address at Svärdvägen 21, 182 33 Danderyd, Sweden, is the data controller responsible for the personal data processed under this Privacy Policy.

For privacy, legal, or other enquiries, contact us at hello@odyset.com.

Personal data we process

We store your connected Instagram username and the Instagram usernames you add to your private Hintmo spots.

We also store basic account identifiers from the sign-in provider you use, such as Apple or Google. This typically includes a user ID and, where provided, your email address.

If you use Hintmo Plus, we store subscription metadata such as your subscription status and product ID. Payments are handled by the App Store or Google Play, and we do not see or store your card details.

If you submit a report, we store the information needed to review and act on that report.

When you confirm that you are 18 or older, we store that confirmation together with limited technical information, such as your IP address and browser or device information, to record that the age confirmation was made.

Our hosting and infrastructure providers may also process limited technical information, such as IP addresses, device or browser information and request logs, where necessary for security, fraud prevention and service reliability.

What we don't do

We do not use advertising trackers, ad networks, session replay tools, or third-party analytics. We never sell the Instagram usernames in your private Hintmo spots or share them for advertising, marketing or profiling. They are only revealed to another user when a match is created according to the Terms of Service. We do not use your data to train AI models — ours or anyone else's. We do not use your data for advertising profiles or personalized targeting.

We do not send marketing emails or promotional notifications. We may send security alerts, legal notices, material changes to this Privacy Policy, or other important service-related messages about Hintmo. We never send messages about specific people or activity inside Hintmo.

Local storage and cookies

For normal Hintmo users, sign-in sessions are stored locally in the app or browser using local storage. Hintmo does not use cookies for user sign-in, analytics, advertising, or tracking.

A strictly necessary temporary cookie may be used only for access to Hintmo's internal admin tools. This cookie is not used for ordinary users and is not used for analytics, advertising, or tracking.

Who processes your data

A small number of service providers help us operate Hintmo. Primary application data is hosted in the EU, while some limited operational data may be processed by these providers in other countries depending on the service used.

  • Lovable Cloud, powered by Supabase, for database and authentication, with primary application data hosted in the EU.
  • Lovable, for application hosting and operational infrastructure.
  • Cloudflare, for content delivery, request routing and related infrastructure.
  • Apple and Google, as sign-in providers, depending on which sign-in method you choose.
  • Apple App Store and Google Play, for subscription billing.
  • RevenueCat, for managing subscription status and purchase entitlements for Hintmo Plus.

Where personal data is transferred outside the EEA, we rely on applicable safeguards such as adequacy decisions or standard contractual clauses where required by law.

How matches stay private

The Instagram usernames in your Hintmo spots are never shown to anyone else as a list.

A username is only revealed when a match is created according to the rules described in the Terms of Service. If no match is created, the other person is never told that you added them.

For the full match rules, see How matches work in the Terms of Service.

Legal basis

We process personal data under GDPR on different legal bases depending on the purpose:

Contract (Art. 6(1)(b)) — to provide Hintmo and the features you sign up for, including account access, matches and Hintmo Plus.

Legal obligation (Art. 6(1)(c)) — where we are required to process data to comply with applicable laws.

Legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f)) — to keep Hintmo secure, prevent abuse, enforce cooldowns and protect the service from misuse.

For Hintmo Plus, subscription-related data is also processed as necessary to perform the subscription contract.

Your rights

Under GDPR, depending on the circumstances, you may have the right to access your personal data, correct inaccurate data, receive a copy of your data, request deletion, restrict certain processing, object to certain processing, or withdraw consent where processing is based on consent.

Hintmo does not use automated profiling or advertising personalization.

You can delete your account, your connected Instagram username and your Hintmo spots directly from Settings. For other privacy requests, contact us at support@hintmo.com. We will respond within the time required by applicable law, normally within 30 days.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your national data protection authority.

Retention

When you delete your account, your personal data is removed from the live app once the deletion has been processed.

Backup copies are removed through normal backup rotation within 30 days.

The limited anti-abuse data described below is kept separately for 100 days and then deleted automatically.

Your age-confirmation record is kept while your account exists and for the 100-day anti-abuse period after deletion, after which it is deleted automatically.

Anti-abuse data after deletion

To prevent someone from immediately recreating an account and taking over an Instagram username that was recently connected to another Hintmo account, we keep a small amount of information for 100 days after deletion.

Your connected Instagram username is reserved for 100 days. During that period, it cannot be connected to another Hintmo account. Instagram usernames you had added to your Hintmo spots are not reserved and can be connected by their real owner immediately.

A one-way cryptographic hash (SHA-256) of your email address and the account identifier from your Apple or Google sign-in is kept for 100 days. It is used only to recognise and refuse a new signup from the same identity during the cooldown period.

After 100 days, this anti-abuse data is deleted automatically.

Legal basis: our legitimate interests in preventing abuse and protecting Hintmo (GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)).

Reports, misuse and suspension

Reporting, moderation and account suspension are governed by the Terms of Service above.

If you believe your Instagram username is being misused on Hintmo, contact us at support@hintmo.com. We will review the request and may ask you to verify that you control the Instagram username before we take action.

If we remove or transfer a username following a valid report, the affected user will only see that the username is no longer connected to their account or Hintmo spot. We do not disclose who submitted the report or why.

If we restrict or remove your account, you can appeal the decision by contacting support@hintmo.com.

Age

Hintmo is for people aged 18 and older, as set out in the Terms of Service.

We rely on self-confirmation at sign-in, together with the age-rating controls provided by the App Store and Google Play. We prioritise reports involving minors and aim to review them promptly.

If we learn that an account belongs to someone under 18, we remove the account and apply the standard 100-day re-signup cooldown.

If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has created a Hintmo account, or if you suspect that any user is under 18, report it from inside Hintmo or contact us at support@hintmo.com.

Changes

If we make material changes to this Privacy Policy, we will notify you inside Hintmo before the updated policy takes effect.

Where applicable law requires your consent for a change, we will ask for it before the relevant processing begins.
